(STATS) - North Dakota State's hold on No. 1 became unanimous as the top teams behind the reigning national champion shuffled in the STATS FCS Top 25 on Monday.

The Bison thundered past Northern Iowa in the fourth quarter, winning 56-31, this past Saturday. That helped lead to coach Chris Klieman's 5-0 squad collecting all 160 first-place votes for the first time this season in the national media poll.

The bigger story in Week 6 was Elon ending second-ranked James Madison's 20-game CAA winning streak 27-24. The Phoenix jumped five spots to No. 5 - their highest ranking since 2008 - and James Madison fell into a tie at No. 6 with Wofford.

The race for No. 2, if you will, had close voting. South Dakota State, Kennesaw State and Eastern Washington moved up one spot each to No. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Each has one loss, SDSU falling 21-17 to North Dakota State, and Kennesaw and Eastern to FBS opponents.

The last three spots in the rankings went to newcomers. Southern Conference co-leader ETSU claimed No. 23, its first ranking since Oct. 25, 1999 with the program dormant from 2004-14. South Dakota moved back into the poll at No. 24 after a three-week absence. Princeton entered at No. 25, its first ranking since Nov. 17, 2013.

A season-high 10 conferences were represented in the poll.

A national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries select the STATS FCS Top 25. A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.
