Quarterfinal-round review and lookahead

(STATS) - For the FCS semifinals, it's all come back to what's been the three best conferences in the last decade.

The Missouri Valley Football Conference - still the premier conference - is guaranteed a national finalist for the eighth straight season after rivals North Dakota State and South Dakota State won quarterfinals to set up a rematch in the semifinals Friday night.

CAA Football Maine also advanced out of the quarterfinals and will face Eastern Washington, which won an all-Big Sky quarterfinal over UC Davis, on Saturday.

Offensive Player of Week 12
When Princeton sought to complete a perfect season, the ball was put in the hands of Horsted, who responded with four touchdowns in the Tigers' 42-14 win over Ivy League rival Penn. He caught eight passes for 165 yards and three TDs, including a 20-yarder in the third quarter after the Quakers had pulled within 21-14, and rushed for a 19-yard score. Also an All-Ivy baseball standout, Horsted became Princeton's all-time leader in receptions (196) and finished second in receiving yards (2,703). The Tigers (10-0) posted their first unbeaten season since 1964.
Defensive Player of Week 12
Collins made a number of decisive plays in Montana State's 29-25 victory over Big Sky archrival Montana. The biggest occurred when Montana was one yard away from a potential go-ahead touchdown and Collins jarred the ball away from a UM running back, which the Bobcats recovered with six seconds left. The play before, Collins was in a tackle to stop UM at the 1. On UM's previous drive, Collins forced a fumble and recovered it in Grizzlies territory to set up the scoring drive that gave the Bobcats their first lead. He finished with a team-high 12 tackles, including one for loss and a half sack.
